Located in Port Allen, construction of Louisiana Scrap Metal included new administration warehouse, baler, crane and maintenance buildings on a 23-acre site. The Administration Building anchors the campus and provides a front door to the public. The two-story, 11,500 SF structure is wrapped in a multi-layered skin that incorporates shifting wall panels, composite metal panels and translucent polycarbonate sheeting. Additional structures consisting of the warehouse, baler, crane and maintenance buildings are pre-engineered, and all buildings are supported by timber piles, pile caps and grade beams. Sitework on the grounds include 52,500 SF concrete dock and barge loading area, limestone areas for work and storage, 278,000 SF heavy duty concrete paving area, and 85,000 SF light duty concrete paving for employee and customer parking.
