Located on the campus of McNeese State University in Lake Charles, this project completed repairs to the Health and Human Performance Center which suffered extensive wind and rain damage as a result of Hurricanes Laura and Delta.
Left with ankle-deep water, the 138,800 SF building required four out of the five roofs to be replaced.
Delivered as Construction Manager at Risk, scope included environmental remediation, demolition, and reconstruction of the 138,800 SF 4-story complex. Specific components included extensive repair to exterior walls, replacement of the hardwood basketball floor in the main arena, replacement of the hardwood floor in the volleyball/practice gym, refurbishment of the arena’s 4,242 seats and rejuvenation of the complexes many areas including public circulation, and classrooms, among others.
As CMaR, LEMOINE worked closely with McNeese and the Design Team to assess and prioritize critical portions of the facility needed for use. Utilizing early release of critical construction components,McNeese proudly returned to their home court for the start of conference play.
In addition, LEMOINE returned $1.8 million to the owner, attributing savings to powerful value engineering exercises and advanced construction methodologies.
